It seemed like a good idea at the time...

With my 2nd attempt making bread with my brand new bread-maker I started thinking about other things I've bought that seemed like good ideas at the time.

Netty pot: this is the little pot you put warm water and salt solution into. The water flows into one nostril and out of the other. Allegedly, opera singers and people with sinus problems swear by these things. By the time I actually resort to doodads like this, I probably need a power-washer and test tube brush. Silly thing. Never again.

French Press: This little contraption does make a tasty little pot of coffee. There are several problems with these things. Never again.
  1. The coffee is half cold by the time it finally gets into the cup.
  2. The things has to be completely dismantled to be cleaned.
  3. The glass beaker inevitable breaks if you look at is cross-eyed. I have 2 maybe 3 holders for the beakers. The replacement beakers cost more than the original French press cost.
Scrubbing Bubbles® Automatic Shower Cleaner: This one looked really good on TV. Hang it in the shower, hook in the liquid cleaning solution, hit the button, walk away, and PRESTO! Clean shower upon return. They LIED. Once the button is hit, a little nozzle shoots out cleaning solution downward. What this means is maybe the bottom 2-3 feet of your shower would get clean if the cleaning solution worked (which it doesn't). I gave it a chance. Used up the entire 2 bottles of cleaning solution it came with. Didn't see any difference. Never again.

RainX: I don;t know if this stuff is still sold. The advertising made i look like you clean off your windshield with this stuff and it forms a water repellent shield. You don't even need to use your wipers and everything comes right off the windshield. Right. This was cool at first. Rain beaded up and came right off the windshield. Bug brains were not so easy. Trying to get the bug brains off the windshield led to smearing that was almost impossible to get off because of the water repellent film! Dumb dee dum dum. Never again.

I'm sure there were other things I bought that seemed likea great idea.
